De Normandië Fietsroute gaat vanaf Boulogne-sur-Mer door een onbekend deel van Frankrijk tot de Loire bij Saumur. Deze route vormt tevens een verbinding tussen de LF1 en de Loire Kastelen Fietsroute en la Loire à Vélo. Deel 1 van de route is 660km lang en gaat over geasfalteerde wegen. Het landschap is afwisselend met hier en daar en een korte steile klim. Langs de riviertjes Risle en Charentonne gaat de tocht over een 60km bewegwijzerde fietsroute van het departement Eure. Het hoogste punt van de route ligt op 417m. Deze hoogte wordt heel geleidelijk overwonnen. De route loopt door rustig niet toeristisch gebied in Normandië en alleen bij wat grotere plaatsen kan het wat drukker zijn.

Bij de Loire naar het oosten of het westen? 

Vanaf de Loire zijn er twee mogelijkheden. Of u fietst oostwaarts richting Saumur en vindt aansluiting op de Loirekastelenroute. Of u gaat de andere kant op in de richting Nantes en van de Atlantische Oceaan. De Loire is als het ware het verbindingstuk tussen het Normandische en Bretonse deel van de fietsroute. De rivier begeleidt u via ‘la Loire-à-Vélo’ in westelijke richting door haar stroomgebied. In Nantes wordt koers gezet naar Bretagne. 

Bretagne langs kanalen en riviertjes 

Vanaf Nantes loopt de fietsroute bijna geheel langs rivieren en kanaaltjes over jaagpaden door het binnenland van Bretagne. Meer dan 110 sluisjes komt u onderweg tegen! De route loopt langs plaatsen als Redon, Malestroit, Pontivy en Hennebont. Eindpunt van het Bretonse deel is Port-Louis aan de Atlantische Oceaan.

Nieuw vanaf 2015: le Mont-St.Michel (140km)

Vanaf Séés is er een verbinding gelegd naar het alom bekende werelderfgoed Mt.St.Michel. Voormalige spoorlijntjes die zijn omgebouwd tot Voies Vertes staan garant voor ruim 70km onbekommerd fietsplezier met hellingpercentages van niet meer dan 3%. De doorsteek naar Mt.St.Michel loopt bijna gelijk op met de Véloscénie die van Parijs naar St.Michel loopt. Vanaf Mt.St.Michel is er vervolgens weer aansluiting te vinden op alle routemogelijkheden van Tour de Manche.
